Employee Hiring and Training Programs by Amazon and Amazon Web Services

Amazon recruits from schools and institutions serving ethnically diverse populations (e.g. Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, Women’s Colleges and Universities, etc.), as well as organizations committed to promoting minorities in tech (e.g. Grace Hopper Celebration, AfroTech, Girls in Tech, etc.). In addition to these inclusive hiring practices, Amazon continues to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities at home and abroad.

Amazon’s CSR commitment to employees also includes a number of ongoing training and educational opportunities for both technical and non-technical positions. In 2019, a total of $700 million was allocated for educational training for 100,000 employees over the next six years.3 In addition to this effort, Amazon provides reimbursement for up to 95% of tuition and fees for employees seeking to gain or expand in-demand skills (e.g. IT, healthcare, transportation, and mechanical trades) regardless of their current career track. Free online education was also offered to over 100,000 students world-wide in 2020 as well as free access to educational resources for faculty and students seeking to keep pace with the latest in technology education.
